Q-Mass offers the highest capability gun drilling service in the country. Its large multi-axis gun drilling equipment combined with a number of very knowledgeable and experienced operators means long gun drilled holes can be accurately positioned and machined in a variety of materials with the minimum possible run off. Q-Mass offers gun drilling as a sub contract operation or as part of a turnkey machining supply.
Gun drilling is deep hole drilling where the depth is typically between 3 and 100 times the diameter of the hole. This ratio can be difficult to machine straight and accurately sized and so specialised straight fluted drills and associated machinery have been developed to ensure this can be achieved consistently. The design and capabilities of Q-Mass's gun drilling machine are well suited to service the requirements of the oil industry where this accuracy and straightness is essential. The combinations of long holes, angled holes, compound angles, cross drilled ports, machined port details etc. are commonplace in the industry and can all be machined in house by Q-Mass.
